Agro processing Center (APC) is established to facilitate primary and secondary processing of agricultural produce. The model APC at ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India Ludhiana Campus hosts primary processing equipment such as air screen cleaner, specific gravity separator, aspirators. The secondary processing machine such as hammer mill, burr mill, rice mill (Dehusker and polisher), dhal mill, mini oil expeller, millet pearler are also installed in the APC. The APC in ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India Ludhiana also have pilot plant for Soybean/groundnut milk production, Green chilli processing, and Cryogenic grinding system for spices.
The facility is extensively used for processing of different agricultural produce during training programmes for farmers, students and officers, etc., demonstration, and custom hiring system. The processed material obtained from APC is sold through Sale counter of the Institute.
